Budget for Safety

Each year, as management of Bagby & Russell Electric Company, Inc. prepares the upcoming operating budget, a percentage is always set aside and designated strictly for safety administration and training.

Examples of Safety Procedures

  • In addition to having a Company Safety Policy & Program, in which all of our designated Job Foremen (JF) & Competent Persons (CPs) are well versed and documented, we have additional documented safety procedures in place:
  • All of our JF & CPs have served a 5 yr. Documented Apprenticeship Program and pass a City of Mobile Journeyman Electrician Competency Test.
  • Quarterly after-hours training session & dinner meetings are held for JF & CPs where safety is always a part of the agenda. As an additional incentive to attend, a drawing is held for gift certificates at every meeting.
  • Weekly Job Site Safety Meetings are held on all job sites.
  • Company Safety Person visits all job sites at least monthly.
  • CPR & First Aid Certification for JF & CPs.
  • Company newsletters are mailed to all employees (as well as some clients) on a regular basis. The lead article is ALWAYS about safety and the employee's spouse is encouraged to participate.
  • Regular employee safety memos are enclosed with payroll checks.
  • We have an employee safety incentive program in place to reward employees on a quarterly basis. Judging is based on ZERO OSHA recordable accidents.
  • We participate in the Associated Builders and Contractors safety award programs as well as programs by the Associated General Contractors.
  • We are a drug free Company. Pre-employment, post accident and "random for cause" testing is in place.
  • Safety Orientation for all new-hires.
  • OSHA 10 hr. Construction Training for 80% of all employees.
